The theme for the 2012 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games is Just as Bold. Here for Gold. It reflects the fact Special Olympics athletes share the same passion and goals as their Olympic counterparts. Undoubtedly, the theme will be brought to life by the athletes as they compete in seven winter sports throughout the course of the Games.
Canada’s 10 provinces and two of its three territories will be represented by more than 650 athletes. All of them will arrive in St. Albert, Alberta from February 28th to March 3rd, 2012 with dreams of gold and aspirations to qualify for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Pyenog Chang,South Korea.
Janie McGraw from Patinage St-Isidore will be competing in Ladies Free Skate level 5 and Solo Dance Level 3 (Fourteenstep and European).
Mario Richard will be going as Team NB and Team PEI figure skating head coach.
This competition serves as a qualifier for the 2013 World Special Olympic winter games that will take place in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.
